MOTUL support extends further than ever in MotoGP 2015
Aubervilliers, 27 March 2015. For a company which has been producing ground-breaking lubricants for over 160 years, and forging technical partnerships with some of the world’s leading motor and motorcycle manufacturers for over a third of that time, it is no surprise that MOTUL has been involved with MotoGP for over a quarter of a century. In 2015 all these elements have come together, and this season will see MOTUL technically supporting four teams – Suzuki Factory team, Yamaha Tech3, Yamaha Forward Racing and Aprilia Racing Team Gresini – its biggest involvement yet.The MotoGP championship remains the pinnacle of two-wheel competition, with manufacturers fielding cutting-edge prototype machines in the 18-race series which visits 13 different countries between March and November. MOTUL has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with MotoGP through its links with the championship itself and its competitors, as witnessed by its title sponsorship of two Grands Prix: the MOTUL Grand Prix of Japan – now in its second consecutive year – and, new for 2015, the MOTUL TT Assen race. The addition of the second race means that MOTUL joins TIM, Bwin, Red Bull and Monster Energy as being the only five brands to support two or more MotoGP rounds.
In 2015 MOTUL’s commercial support of the Championship remains at a significant level and the lubricant company’s iconic red and white logo will be visible as corner signage at 17 of the 18 tracks visited. It also celebrates the 19th anniversary of its partnership as official lubricant with the Grand Prix of France, one of the country’s leading international sporting events, and the MOTUL grandstand at Le Mans on 17th May will be festooned in red and white!
The global series continues to be a perfect test bench for motorcycling’s worldwide specialist and provides the perfect technical showcase for the brand. Involvement by MOTUL, which has a presence in more than 90 countries worldwide, allows the company to develop the products of tomorrow such as the successful new motorcycling range which was introduced in 2013.
On track, with a strong involvement in four teams and three different manufacturers, there is more reason than ever for excited anticipation of the season ahead. MOTUL celebrates its technical partnership with the Monster Energy Yamaha Tech3 team for a record 26th year (Bradley Smith, GBR and Pol Espargaro, ESP), plus the Yamaha Forward Racing team (Stefan Bradl, GER and Loris Baz, FRA), the latter being a partnership which began just 12 months ago. As with its other partnerships, the Yamaha machines benefit from the use of an experimental MOTUL lubricant developed exclusively with Yamaha’s racing division. Team Suzuki MotoGP (Maverick Viñales and Aleix Espargaro, both ESP) will be among the many taking the fight to championship returnee Aprilia Racing Team Gresini (Marco Melandri, ITA and Alvaro Bautista, ESP).
The 2015 increase in MOTUL’s support of the championship and its competitors represents the greatest programme for the lubricant company in Grand Prix racing since the links began more than 30 years ago. On 29th March all eyes will be on the Grand Prix of Qatar at the Losail International Circuit on the outskirts of Doha – don’t miss it!
